A lot of people keep telling me about their sore spots after running or hiking!! One of the major ones is the front of their hips.

There are a few major muscles that your body uses while running although this video demonstrates ways to self massage quads and hip flexors Psoas and then when it joins iliacus to make illiopsoas…. you can do it anywhere, you don’t have to be in your activewear, you could be at home like me or in your office on a break!!

With running especially on uneven terrain we need to also focus on our core muscles so that we can run tall, not slouch over and engage our strongest hip flexors too much illipsoas and quads.

The psoas major muscle is part of the iliopsoas muscle, the strongest hip flexor in the human body, and belongs to the inner hip muscles. It originates from the 1st to 4th lumbar vertebrae, the costal processes of all lumbar vertebrae and the 12th thoracic vertebrae and inserts at the lesser trochanter of the femur.

After a run try and implement these trigger point and self massage with movement exercises to release and avoid tightness and decreased range of movement.
